Rumors began to spread on Monday afternoon about reports that Twitter is working on his own service to post photos, which will compete with Twitpic and Yfrog.
TechCrunch first broke the news on Monday, citing multiple unnamed sources. And now, it seems, and All Things D has confirmed this story, even noting that a service will be announced this week. Post ATD also cites unnamed sources, but argues that the announcement will be made on its own conference, D9, which will be held this week in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
It would not be very surprising if all these reports are true. Once a company has asked the Twitter developers stop creating third-party customers, it announced the acquisition of TweetDeck. It took months to finally confirmed the rumors, so maybe we'll be in for some time to feed the rumors before, as Twitter will make an official statement.
Representatives of Twitter in an official reply was told they did not comment on rumors.
